Before & After?

Do you ever take before & After pictures of your kids or grandkids when they get hair cuts.  Well we do sometimes.  My oldest Grandson Jordan has wanted to grow his hair out for some time now and we keep asking "can we cut your hair?"

This picture was taken in January 2011.  Look at those abs.

Today Charlie (my SIL) said he needed to get his haircut for work tomorrow and Jordan decided to go with his dad and get his hair cut too

This is after his haircut today.  Doesn't look quite as mean, does he?

It is so different to see him with short hair.  He has such a baby face, isn't he cute?

Little Chicks?

Ok so we decided to get some little chicks and raise our own Organic chickens since Dawn and I both have to eat Organic as much as possible.  Wilco Farm Stores have a special going today that if you buy a bag of chick starter you can get 5 Cornish Cross chicks for FREE so Steve, Dawn and I went to Wilco at 8:00 am and bought 5 Cochin laying chicks and 10 FREE Cornish Cross chicks.  We had a large tote to put them in for a little while and so We needed to buy the Feeder, waterer and the heat lamp along with the food and the pellets for the floor of the tote.  Got home before 9:00 am and started setting up.  Here are some pictures.

My Son James and Granddaughter Mary

My Son James trying to get them to drink from the waterer.

James Still trying to get some of them to drink.

The white/yellow ones are the Cornish Cross and the Black/Brown ones are the Cochin.

We chose the Cornish Cross for the ones we are planning on eating because they mature in 6-8 weeks.  So I will try to keep you up to date on how our new adventure is going.

Charlie is getting ideas on how to build our Coop and will start on it soon.  I will try to post pictures of that process as we go too.

The Grandchildren we all so excited when we came home with the chicks this morning.  They named the laying chicks already.  Midnight, Stripes, Heart Night, Mouse and Beauty.

Hope you enjoy reading about our new adventure as much as we do.

Card Class in The Dalles.

I had my second card class in The Dalles on Saturday and had a lot more people so I decided to do 2 classes.  The activities director is very sweet and let me offer a simple card class and an intermediate card class.  I had about 15 people in the morning and about 10 in the afternoon class.  I think everyone had fun even the little ones who came.  Here are the simple cards we made.

This card I random stamped the little flower from the Bunny Love Set B1324 and colored just the centers with the Creme Brulee marker.

This card I used the Beloved Set B1343and cut out the Dove and cross and popped them up on foam dots.  Random stamped the leafy branch on the Colonial white CS and on the Sweet Leaf CS

This Card is using the March Stamp of the Month Sensational D1454.  You can get this stamp set FREE by purchasing $100.00 in Close To My Heart products before March 31st 2011.  The border punch is from Stampin' Up.

This card is using the Wings Creative Basic paper pack and ribbon.  I added the Cocoa and Juniper Cardstock and the Happy easter stamp I barrowed form my friend Teri.  The stamp set I used is Delight C1452.

I took the same cards and just added ribbon, dry embossed parts and added some brads or Liquid glass and some foam dots for dimension to make them into the intermediate cards.  Here they are.

On this card I dry embossed the Creme Brulee CS and Put foam dots under the Happy Easter tag and backed the bunny in Pear CS and popped it up on foam dots also.

This card I dry embossed the Creme Brulee and the Sweet Leaf CS.

On this card I used Liquid Glass on the Carrots and Cut out the sign and popped it up on foam dots.  I also added little bits of a cotton ball to the tails of the bunnies.  Not shown in this picture.

This card I replaced the Juniper strip between the squares and added a Cocoa strip and Juniper ribbon, I also added brads to the flower centers.

Some of the ladies had trouble seeing how to color the Bunny's in so next month we are going to make cards using my Flower stamps so we don't have to color.  Hopefully I can get those posted before my next class.

I hope you like the cards we made, so maybe you can send some Easter cards out this year.

Janice

Horus

I don't know if all of you are familiar with Egyptian Gods or not but we have become more familiar this last couple weeks.  Jordan chose to study Horus and so we made a costume complete with the Falcon head.  Here are some pictures.

Making the mask.

First you start by covering the face with petroleum jelly.

Then you layer plaster strips over the area you want the mask to be.

Here Dawn added the beak of the Falcon.

Charlie cut the eye holes so that Jordan could see out of the mask.

Jordan was working on his poster.

I sewed the skirt and arm & leg bands for the costume.  I dyed the t-shirt and made the crown.

Jordan's Ancient Civilization Celebration was yesterday and Mom, Grandpa, Hailey and I went to help and watch.  Here are some pictures of the celebration.

Here you can see some of the parent helpers.

Cypress one of the local Greek Restaurants in Oregon City donated most of the food and everyone loved it.  The Calamari was the first to go.

Miss Hailey had to get into the Chariot with Jordan.

Mr Salisbury & Mr Bartch both dresses up for the occasion.

We watched the kids play a game like Jeopardy where they chose a category and put the answer in question form.  You can see the board behind Mr. Salisbury.  They also played Pictionary and Hangman.

This was a lot of fun.  There were a lot of really good costumes.
